A SINGING ADVENTURE

The Singing Festival is an interactive joyful and emotive experience! Expect to laugh, cry, make new friends, try new experiences and completely relax, as we take you on a Singing Adventure!

You do not need to be an exceptional singer. You do not need to be a seasoned camper. All you need is a love of music, an appreciation for nature and an open heart!

There really is nothing like this!

BAZIL MEADE MBE

LONDON COMMUNITY GOSPAL CHOIR

The pioneer and founder of the UK’s first Gospel Community Choir (LCGC). Under his direction and tuition, some of the industry’s finest gospel and R’n’B singers have blossomed and found successful careers.

Bazil has been awarded an MBE for “services to music".

The London Community Gospel Choir have performed with James Brown, Tom Jones, Elton John, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Annie Lenox, Rod Stuart, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Adele, Gorillas, Blur, Nick Jonas, One Republic, Gregory Porter, Justine Timberlake - the list goes on… Bazil was a massive hit last time! Can't wait!

MARK DE-LISSER

SINGOLOGY & ACM CHOIR

Mark De-Lisser is a vocal coach, choral director, arranger and author who has been working in the music industry for over 18 years.

Mark was the creator of the choir arrangement for the iconic 'Stand By Me' performed at Harry & Meghan's Royal Wedding.

Along with Directing his multi-award-winning choirs SIngology & ACM, Mark is a regular on TV & Radio offering up his talents as a vocal coach, arranger, mentor and contributor. Mark has coached some of the best in the business including Jessie J, Michael Kiwanuka, Joss Stone, Jamie Woon to name few. We are so excited to welcome Mark to the Festival!

WILD VOICE

Jess Hunting founder of Wild Voice is passionate about bringing people together in song and in nature.

Sharing her gift and love of singing with those around her, Jess has inspired thousands of people to sing!

Jess is a professional musician, choir leader and classically trained singer having supported world-class musicians, performing on many iconic stages & beautiful concert halls. Jess's instinctive, intuitive and infectious style, encourages people to embrace their emotions and connect with their wild voice!

ITINERARY

DAY ONE

  • Set up camp, make yourselves at home
  • Spend the afternoon surrounded by different sounds and music, from Opera in the woodlands to Jazz in the acoustic stage and some uprising talent from singer and songwriters
  • Explore the well-being field and all it has to offer
  • Join the opening ceremony with the co-founder of Wild Voice - Jess Hunting, who will start as we mean to go on - singing together and creating an amazing atmosphere through song!
  • Sample the delicious food and drink and meet the Wild Voice Foodie team in the tearoom
  • Warm yourself by the campfire whilst listening to some fables and myths
  • Dance the night away to the epic party-loving Folk band Kings Gambit

DAY TWO

  • Start the morning the right way with a selection of tai-chi & yoga on offer. Breathe in the clear, fresh air and enjoy the stunning setting and nature all around
  • Rejuvenate and wake up with a spot of Nia Dancing on the lawn
  • Challenge yourself with an activity from paddle boarding on the lake, some tag archery, or even scaling the heights of the climbing wall
  • Take some time out and chill out in the well-being field. Partake in some devotional singing, beautifully led by Mollie Mendoza and singer-songwriter Sam Garrett.
  • Spend the day taking part in many different music experiences on offer. From learning the didgeridoo to a blindfolded music walk to taking part in the opera workshop run by Outreach Opera.
  • Join the most incredible and ecstatic Gospel workshop, led by none other than the founder and pioneer of the UK’s first gospel choir - LCGC, Bazil Meade from the London Community Gospel Choir. Expect to feel uplifted and totally blown away by this amazing experience!
  • Back by popular demand, we welcome back the immense Jazz Colossus. Creating a party in the Big Top like no other.  From Motown, Soul to Funk…this stunning Big Band & their guest singers will have you up dancing the night away!

DAY THREE

  • A perfect blend of nature and sound will begin our Sunday at the festival. With guided meditation and relaxing and rejuvenating sound baths, more yoga, tai chi and nia dancing for the final morning at the festival.
  • Listen to the sounds of a classical folk harpist. Enjoy some classical duets in the woodlands and a fabulous musical production from the company - Starving Artists!
  • Explore the gardens of Kelmarsh and soak up all the nature and wildlife.
  • Try out some different activities on offer today, from African drumming to a Natural Musicians workshop to name just a few.
  • Prepare to be taken on another magical singing experience as we welcome Mark De Lisser to the stage. Famously known for his arrangement of the epic song Stand By Me, written for the Royal wedding of 2019. Mark De Lisser will lead us all in song as he teaches his famous arrangement and gets the whole festival singing!

This year we have 2 options for you!

  1. You bring your own tent (included in the weekend pass ticket price).
  2. You bring your own campervan or caravan at an extra cost of £30.

Alternatively, if camping & clamping are not for you, you can try local hotels or B&B's. You will need to leave the site by midnight and return after 9 am

LOCAL, FRESH & DELICIOUS

FOOD & DRINK

Our Wild Voice Foodie team will be serving hot drinks, cakes, snacks and pastries in the Wild Voice Cafe. Also joining the festival we welcome local food producers, to give you an even greater variety of choice. Delicious Vegan street food, wood-oven pizza, a sizzling hot BBQ, fresh coffee & smoothies, to name just a few of the street vendors that will be joining this year’s festival.

EVENT

What is the full address of the festival?

The festival is being held in the grounds of Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens.

Kelmarsh, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN6 9LY

What time does the festival start?

The festival starts with an opening ceremony at 7pm in the Big Top. You are welcome to come and set up for the weekend from 1pm on the Friday 29th May. Entertainment will begin from approx 3pm.

What time does the festival finish?

The festival will finish on Sunday 31st May at 4pm.  You are welcome to stay on-site until the Monday 9am.

Where can I park?

Parking for all cars will be next to the main festival site. Please note you may need to walk with your camping equipment from the car park to the camping area. Please make sure you can handle all your own luggage.

CAMPING

Do I have to bring my own tent?

Yes, unless you’re paying extra for the glamping experience, in which case you will be staying in a tent that is already pitched.

Please note, the glamping is an additional cost separate to your ticket fee and is booked through Brook’s Bell Tents - this is given as an option when purchasing your festival tickets.

Is there a restriction on tent size?

Yes. We have a limited capacity on-site and we ask that you only bring a sensible/normal-sized family tents only.

Can I bring a campervan / caravan?

You are welcome to bring a campervan/caravan and will be given in a designated area to park up. Please note, it is just a pitch - no electrical hook up will be provided. There is an additional campervan/caravan fee of £30 which you will need to purchase when buying your festival tickets.

Can campervans and tents camp together?

A small 2-4 man tent may camp next to a campervan or caravan in the camper/caravan designated area.

Can I bring my own cooking facilities?

Kelmarsh do not allow camping BBQ’s or camping stoves on the land. Site supervisors will be marshalling the site to check that this is adhered to. Food will be available on-site.

Can I bring a gazebo or event shelter?

You may bring a gazebo as long as it does not exceed 5 metres squared.

Will there be showers and toilets?

The whole site will be serviced with plenty of toilets and some showers.

Am I allowed a fire at my tent?

No

I am glamping in a bell tent but my friend is bringing their own tent, can we camp together?

No, unfortunately not. The glamping bell tents will be in a separate area to the campers.

Will the campsite be lit?

Yes, but there will be minimal lighting at night, we recommend you bring a camping light/torch. 

TICKETS

Cost of ticket?

The price is £149 for a weekend pass (+ £30 if you wish to bring a caravan/campervan). Day Tickets are £74. Saturday day ticket is valid from 9am - 11pm and Sunday day ticket is valid from 9am-6pm.

I bought a ticket, but can now no longer attend, can I have a refund?

Unfortunately we cannot offer a refund but we invite you to gift your ticket to someone you know or sell it on.

When will I receive my ticket/s?

You will receive an e-ticket approx 2-3 weeks prior to the event. Please bring this with you and show on entry.

What does the festival ticket include?

Your ticket entitles you to entrance to the festival, a pitch to camp, and gives you access to all the workshops, activities, experiences, performances that are on offer. 

No food or drinks are included in the ticket price. You will need spending money for any merchandise, additional activities you wish to do throughout the weekend such as massages and well-being sessions.

I live locally, so can I come just for the day?

We recommend to experience the whole weekend to its full capacity you stay for as much as you can. If you wish to just come along for the day we do have 1 day ticket options available. If you wish to stay off-site and come for the weekend that is fine. The site will open from 9am each day and close at 11pm on the Saturday and 6pm on the Sunday.

FOOD & DRINK

What food and drink is available at the festival?

Food and drink will be available to buy during the festival. There will be a range of street food vendors including vegan street food, wood-oven pizza, fresh coffee & smoothies and more. The Wild Voice Cafe will be serving hot drinks, cakes, pastries and snacks throughout the duration of the festival. Alcohol will be available to purchase on site.

How do I pay for food and drink during the festival?

Mainly cash. Some vendors may accept card.

I have dietary requirements, will there be food there suitable for me?

Please note if you have a severe allergy, then we do recommend you bring your own supplies and please make your allergies/intolerances known to the vendors to see if they can accommodate your needs.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

No.  Only alcohol purchased on site can be consumed. Please do not bring alcohol into the event as it will be confiscated by security.

BIT & BOBS

I am interested in holding a stall at the festival, who do I contact?

If you have something you wish to share and would like a stall at the festival please contact [email protected] with more details.

Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately, we have a no animals allowed policy. 

Will I need any spending money?

There will be merchandise and stall holders you wish to visit/shop at, please bring both cash and card in case cards are not accepted.

Can I bring my kids?

This is mainly an adult festival, but children are welcome. Please note, any children you do bring to the festival are your responsibility for the duration of the entire weekend. Under 14’s come free.

ARRIVING BY ROAD

FROM THE A14 (FOR THE M1 AND M6)
Take the exit at Junction 2, and head north towards Market Harborough. Kelmarsh is 500m north from the A14, taking the left turn from the crossroads.

FROM THE A508
The entrance to the hall is located on the main A508 road, 5 miles south of Market Harborough and 11 miles north of Northampton.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Kelmarsh is easily accessible by public transport, with two nearby train stations. Northampton Station has regular trains to London Euston and Birmingham New Street and Market Harborough Station has regular trains to London St Pancras and Nottingham.

There is a regular bus service (Stagecoach X7) which runs from Leicester to Milton Keynes, via Market Harborough and Northampton, which stops outside the entrance.

ARRIVING BY BIKE

Kelmarsh is located along the Brampton Valley Way cycle route. We welcome visitors to arrive by bike, but regret to say we do not have a dedicated storage facility or bike rack. Bicycles are left at the owner's risk.
